Biography

Alex Body is a Suffolk based Powerpop/Rock songwriter and musician.

"He is entertainment"

Well, that pretty much sums it up. I strive to entertain and songs are merely the tools I use, but of course even a tool has to be crafted and that's why after making my mark on the acoustic world in 2007 I decided to enlist the help of two of East Anglia's most talented musicians in January 2008: Peart-esque prog fan; Alex Dunbar (Drums), and stunt bassist; Andy Clarke - leaving me fronting the band on vocals and guitar.

While I write the songs in their entirety it is when seeing me perform live with my band that my music is best enjoyed by those listening and those performing. An Alex Body show is a mix of pure entertainment, and spectacular musicianship. This is of course partly due to the fact I ensure I surround myself with the best musicians available, and use their talents to maximise the impact of my songs.

My shows feature improvisation and experimentation - and yet are still slick and performed with passion and precision. For this reason no Alex Body show is the same. (If you don't believe me, come to all of them).

If you're reading this and you've never heard my music, and Powerpop/Rock doesn't really explain a lot to you (don't worry, you're not the first to ask), my music can be described as (and certainly influenced by) a mixture of David Bowie, Cheap Trick and Rush - majestic, but entertaining (Powerpop) but also exciting and new (Rock). To name but a few other comparisons others have noted: Julian Cope, Justin Hawkins, The Replacements and Frank Zappa...

My most recent album "Points of View" is the third album which I have recorded entirely solo (though the drums are computerised). The album pushes further towards the boundaries of pop, but is still plenty noisy - it features the live sing along favourite "(Do you do any) Elvis?" (A song written about a question I was asked an awful lot when I used to do a lot of pub gigs.) I'm currently working on (with the help of my band) a studio EP as well as a shortly to be released live album.

With so much going on, 2008 has been an exciting year of quick progress, with gigs in top venues, such as Camden's Bullet Bar, Islington's Lark in the Park and New Oxford St's Legendary "The Fly"” the future looks brighter than ever for me and those involved with my music.

My achievements to date include supporting music professionals such as John Watts (Fischer-Z) and Harvey Bainbridge (Hawkwind), reaching the final of the "Live and Unsigned" competition and recording, producing and marketing three albums entirely solo.

With a different set list and a guaranteed great performance every single night; fans are excited for every Alex Body show and new release - and so should you be.
